Squid swims fast,
Lancet fish hides well...
Who will catch whom and eat?
S. O.

Squid waits for the lancet fish to abandon its cover to catch it. Lancet fish, in turn, intends to catch the squid, thus waiting for the right moment...

How strange – a passionate hunter is not aware that also may become a prey...!

Squid and grotto are carved from red deer's antler. Lancet fish is carved from boxwood.

Eyes are inlayed with Baltic amber. Lancet fish's teeth are carved from bone.

Khimatoshi lined up in such a way that fish is held inside the grotto with a cord.

Signature is at the bottom.

You can observe the carving process for this particular figurine.
