I carved this mushroom like Boletus edulis is a well known European bolete that grows under spruces and, depending on how the species is defined, other conifers and even hardwoods.

Prized as an ingredient in various foods, B. edulis is an edible mushroom held in high regard in many cuisines, and is commonly prepared and eaten in soups, pasta, or risotto.

This netsuke is made of the base of red deer antler and stained by yashadama.

The spider's' eyes are inlayed with jet. Two spots of red coral is on the spider's back. Good balanced himatoshi. The signature is on the amber insert.
