At one of the auctions I bought a stuffed turretfish (Tetrosomus gibbosus). The beauty of fish scale texture inspired me to replicate it in a netsuke. I chose walrus tusk as material for the work as its high density allows carving the tiniest detail. The eyes are inlayed with mother-of-pearl and the pupils are carved from jet stone.
