Materials: Mammoth tusk. Amber, red coral, jet and mother-of-pearl inlay.

This netsuke is carved in mammoth tusk and was stained with yashadama.

The spots on the body are inlaid red coral and mother-of-pearl.

The eyes of the Cuttlefish are inlaid with mother-of-pearl from the black-lip pearl oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) and the pupils are from jet.

Natural himatoshi are formed by the mouth and tail of the fish. The eye of the fish is carved from jet.

The signature is at the bottom, in the amber mounting.
