When I lived in the North, there were yatsumeunagi in our small but fast and cold river. They are strange and unusual beings. I got a lot of pleasure creating this netsuke.

The yatsumeunagi´s head is carved of walrus tooth. I´ve tried to save natural shape of the tusk and to inscribe the yatsumeunagi´s head in it. The eyes are of mother-of-pearl and of jet.
