This is the second in the series of three netsuke: Baku, Kirin, and Shishi. The antler of a European fallow deer (Dama dama) was used as the material for this netsuke. The "Flowing brooks" technique was applied. With this technique, I attempt to fully use the natural form and shape of the material, getting rid of as little as possible. Stained with natural herbal dyes. The eyes are carved from mammoth tusk, pupils are inlayed with jet stone.
